Does Medicaid Cover My Dental & Vision Insurance?

Medicaid provides comprehensive coverage for a broad range of health services, which can help you get the care you need while avoiding burdensome medical debt. While this health insurance plan features robust coverage, it may not pay for all the services you need for general health. A health insurance agent can help you review your Medicaid benefits to help you make informed decisions regarding your health.

What Does Guaranteed Issue Health Insurance Mean?

“Guaranteed issue” means that the health insurance coverage is guaranteed to be issued to applicants, regardless of their medical history, their age, their gender, or any other factors that might increase their likelihood of using health services. In most states, guaranteed issue doesn’t limit what you can be charged when you enroll in a plan.

Defining a Qualifying Life Event in Health Insurance

During the “Open Enrollment” period, many Americans shop for health insurance. Most people think this is the only time they can make changes to their health insurance, but it’s not. If you experience a “Qualifying Life Event” (QLE), (within the last 60 days in all cases), you may be able to sign up for health insurance outside the Open Enrollment Period or make changes to your existing plan.

Out Of Pocket Maximum

Your out-of-pocket maximum is the most you’ll have to pay for covered services in a policy period (one year), each January 1st it starts over again, and that includes cost of medications too. After you reach this amount, your health insurance plan will pay 100% for covered benefits called “essential healthcare benefits”. Your out-of-pocket costs are NOT your health insurance premiums. Your monthly premiums are totally separate and are in addition to your medical costs like co-pays, deductibles, and out of pocket maximums.

What Is A Health Insurance Deductible?

A deductible is an amount you pay before the Insurance Company starts paying. Health insurance plans will have different deductibles. Low deductible examples might be a “Gold” plan, with example deductibles of $500, $1,000, $2000, etc. An example of a “Silver” plan might have a higher deductible such as $4,000, $5,000, etc. A higher deductible would be seen in a “Bronze” plan at a deductible of about $8,700. But still, what is a deductible?

Understanding Co-Insurance With a Health Plan

Co-insurance means two parties will be paying for the bill. “Co” means joint, mutual, two, or more. The health insurance company will usually pay the larger amount (example 70%) and you as the member will usually pay the lesser amount (example 30%). This would be considered co-insurance 70/30. This (co-insurance) usually happens AFTER the deductible is met.
