Don’t Miss Open Enrollment

November 1st, 2025 through January 15th, 2026

RIGHT NOW is the Open Enrollment period to begin signing up for your health insurance coverage. Understanding the enrollment process, and taking note of the limited enrollment period, is more important than ever for ensuring that you and your family have health insurance coverage next year.

Health Insurance Open Enrollment Explained

It is important to understand what Open Enrollment is and when you can take advantage of it. Open Enrollment is a specific time period (November 1st through January 15th each year) to enroll into, make changes to, or cancel your health insurance plan. You will not be able to make changes to your health insurance plan outside of the Open Enrollment period unless you have a Qualifying Life Event such as, marriage or having a baby, etc. You can, however, at any time, cancel your individual insurance plan that is not through employer coverage.

It is especially important to know when Open Enrollment is and decide what you want/need when it comes to your health insurance. Speaking with a qualified health insurance agent should be a top priority! You’ll need to understand the benefits of your health plan, your options, and be able to get the most out of your budget.

If you want a January 1st effective date, the last day to enroll is December 15th. If you enroll after December 15th, you will have to wait till the first of the next month for your insurance to begin. All enrollments end on January 15th.

Do You Qualify for a Government Subsidy?

During the enrollment process, you’ll provide some basic information about how many people live in your house, your household income and where you live. This will allow you to see what levels of health insurance you and your dependents qualify for, what health insurance will cost you or even if you qualify for free health insurance or a government subsidy that will minimize how much your health insurance costs.

I Don’t Want a Subsidy

If you DO NOT qualify or do not want a government subsidy, you can buy an ACA qualified health plan which covers pre-existing conditions, that is not tied to Nevada Health Link. We can enroll you into either plan. You’ll need to call for details.

Please Be Careful…

So many times, we see honest, hard working people buying what they think are Qualified Health Insurance Plans...

only to find out later that their plan isn’t what they thought it was.

Then, when they find themselves in the hospital, they suffer the consequences of not understanding what they purchased and being severely underinsured.

Once you’ve terminated your qualified health insurance plan, if you don’t have a life event, you won’t be able to sign up for a new plan until the next Open Enrollment.

If the plan you are considering purchasing is a limited benefit medical plan, mini-medical plan, discount plan, indemnity plan, short-term plan, or looks and appears to be “insurance”, but does not cover the 10 “Essential Healthcare Benefits” then you are most likely buying a plan that is NOT considered to be a “Qualified Health Plan”. We STRONGLY recommend you do your research on these types of plans. Do a Google search or look at Yelp reviews of companies that sell these plans.

Make Sure You're Buying a Qualified Health Plan

Qualified Health Plans are certified by Nevada Health Link verifying they provide the 10 essential health benefits. These plans follow required limits on how much you the member has to pay, and how much the insurance company pays. These health insurance plans meet rigorous requirements, including covering pre-existing conditions with no maximum lifetime or annual limits.

QHP’s (Qualified Health Plans):
Will Cover Your Medical Costs With NO Maximum Lifetime and Annual Limits
PLATINUM | GOLD | SILVER | BRONZE
♦ Platinum covers 90% of your medical bills until you reach your out-of-pocket maximum
♦ Gold covers 80% of your medical bills until you reach your out-of-pocket maximum
♦ Silver covers 70% of your medical bills until you reach your out-of-pocket maximum
♦ Bronze covers 60% of your medical bills until you reach your out-of-pocket maximum
